Governor kicks off work on new Statehouse Museum

There was no ground to break today for the new Ohio Statehouse Museum. So they broke a wall.

Wearing a green hardhat and wielding a sledge hammer, Gov. Strickland joined other state officials in gleefully knocking holes in a plaster wall in the Salmon P. Chase Classroom on the ground level of the Statehouse.

The wall is coming down to make room for a new gift shop as part of the $3.5 million Statehouse Museum, set to open one year from now. However, the gift shop will reopen in its new location Aug. 1.
